Route descriptions:

Baltic and Danish Straits

The first stage of the cruise passes through the Baltic Sea and the Danish Straits. We are starting from Gdańsk, and we plan to visit Denmark and Sweden. Depending on the weather conditions and desire, we can stop on the island of Bornholm and cities such as Copenhagen or Helsingør known as the backdrop of the action of William Shakespeare’s play “Hamlet”. The cruise is part of the trip to the north and this stage is intended mainly for people who want to sail a lot and get a sea internship. This is an excellent stage for getting a sea internship. We intend to travel about 500 nautical miles in a short time.

Danish Straits and fjords of Norway

We set off from Sweden from the city of Goteborg located in the west of the country, over the Kattegat Strait, at the mouth of Gota alv. It is Sweden’s second largest city. Established in the 17th century to make Swedish trade independent of customs duties collected by Denmark in the Danish Straits. It combines historic architecture with modernity. Sailing from this place to the sea gives an amazing impression, because the access to the city is protected by picturesque skins and islets. Then we can call at Skagen, a Danish city on the northern tip of Jutland, Denmark’s second fishing port after Esbjerg. It is the northernmost beachhead of Denmark at which the border of the Baltic and North Sea is located. Then we will sail to the North Sea through the waters of the Skagerrak Strait. After a short time we will see the shores of Norway and feel the sea current clearly.

The beginning of June is the perfect time to navigate Norwegian fjords. This is the time when white nights occur in Norway and the days are very long. The destination of the stage is Bergen called the gate to the fjords. During the cruise we will have the opportunity to visit Preikestolen – a 20 x 20m rock shelf suspended above Lysefiord. In favorable weather conditions, the view is breathtaking. We can possibly go sailing deep into Lysefiord and make a trip to Kierag – a stone suspended in a gap at an altitude of 800m above sea level. Then, heading north we will head towards Hardangerfjord. The next places on our route are the cities of Northeimsund and Eidfjord. Characteristic for them are the beautiful mountains rising straight from the sea. We will have the opportunity to admire numerous waterfalls and glaciers towering over the fjords. There should also be time for fishing, so all those interested are asked to pack their fishing tackle. Finally, we reach Bergen with wooden architecture in the Bryggen district.  During the cruise we will travel about 630 nautical miles. For this we also recommend him to those who want to get a lot of sea internship.

Norway fjords and glaciers

We set off from Bergen towards Alesund. Bergen itself is a city worth visiting, located between seven mountains, also called the gate to the fjords, whose Hanseatic wharf is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Already at the beginning of the road we will see beautiful nature, and sailing on the sea waters between the islets and mountains can be a great pleasure. Along the way, we will have the opportunity to visit places such as Sognefjorden, the second-largest fjord in the world, the longest in Norway and Europe. Just entering the fjord provides amazing experience. Deep inside the fjord is access to Europe’s largest glacier, Jostedalsbreen. The glacier is protected as part of the national park, founded in 1991, and its highest peak Lodalskåpa – nunatak is 2083 m high. The park can also be accessed from the north from the Nordfjord. Another place particularly worth visiting is Geirangerfiorden to which flows through Storfjorden with 110 kilometers in length. The town of Geiranger, surrounded by majestic, snowy mountain peaks, unusual waterfalls and vegetation, is under UNESCO protection and ships carrying tourists from all over the world come here every day. On site, you can go on a full-day hiking trip to the mountains and admire the scenery from above, and dine in the picturesque restaurant surrounded by mountain peaks. You can also take advantage of the offer of 2-person electric car rental and take a ride on scenic routes with such a vehicle. Geiranger passes the wonderful waterfalls floating in steep cascades from the steep mountain slopes, among them the largest and best known De Syv søstrene (“Seven Sisters”), Friaren (“Zalotnik”) and Brudesløret (“Wedding Veil”). Our cruise will end in Ålesund, located on a peninsula and several islands at the mouth of several fjords to the Norwegian Sea. The city is one of Norway’s most important fishing ports. Currently, by many it is considered the most beautiful city in the country. In 1904, wooden buildings burned down completely and its comprehensive reconstruction in the spirit of Art Nouveau architecture began a year later. In nice weather it is worth climbing the 418-degree staircase to climb the Aksla hill, from which you can admire the city and the coastal landscape, and photography enthusiasts will be able to take beautiful photos.
